Intensive therapy sessions combine multi-hour, concentrated blocks of care over consecutive days to accelerate emotional breakthroughs without the interruptions of weekly appointments.
How Intensive Sessions Work
-
Format: Lasts 3 to 6 hours per day over 2 to 5 consecutive days (or a weekend block) instead of a standard 50-minute weekly hour.
-
Structure: Begins with a grounding and orientation phase (30–45 minutes), moves into deep core therapeutic work (2–4 hours), and finishes with a dedicated integration and calming period.
-
Eliminates the "Restart" Cycle: Bypasses the traditional issue of spending the first 20 minutes just feeling safe enough to begin, allowing the nervous system to stay in a sustained window of tolerance.[
The "Whole Person" Approach
-
Mind-Body Integration: Blends cognitive tools with somatic (body-based) therapies, mindfulness, and neuroscience-backed modalities like EMDR, Brainspotting, or Internal Family Systems
-
Comprehensive Focus: Targets the root causes of trauma, chronic anxiety, or relationship patterns by engaging physical sensations, emotional memories, and cognitive behavior patterns simultaneously.
-
Customized Pacing: Tailored specifically to your unique goals and capacity for emotional processing, using scheduled breaks for reflection and rest.
Preparation and Aftercare
-
Clearing the Schedule: Requires treating the days like a therapeutic retreat by stepping away from work and caregiving so the nervous system can rest and process between blocks.
-
Integration Planning: Focuses heavily on post-session grounding, journaling, and follow-up meetings to apply new neural pathways and coping strategies safely back into everyday life
